November is here, which means that Thanksgiving and Christmas are right around the corner. Many have already begun decorating their homes for the festive holidays and planning delicious dinners for the occasion. The city of Huntsville has also begun planning for the holiday season, and there are many events that you will not want to miss. Check out these upcoming holiday events taking place during the months of November and December and mark your calendars.
Galaxy of Lights
The Huntsville Botanical Gardens puts on a wonderful light display every year - Galaxy of Lights. Galaxy of Lights will begin on November 11th and last through January 1st. There are walking nights, driving nights, and dog walking nights. Come on the walking nights where you can take your time perusing each light and animated display. The nights for walking are November 11th-27th and December 17th-January 1st with the event being closed on both Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Be sure to purchase your ticket in event for the walking nights, so you can get a guaranteed walking time slot. Driving nights are December 1st-16th. This is the perfect time to go if you don’t enjoy standing out in the cold.
Rocket City Christmas Light Show
The Toyota Field, home of the Trash Pandas, hosts the Rocket City Christmas Light Show. It is a drive-through light show that begins November 18th-January 1st. Along with enjoying the show, you may also meet Santa, make s’mores, and more.
Skating in the Park
Break the ice at Skating in the Park. At Big Spring Park behind the Huntsville Museum of Art, Huntsville and Madison residents can take a spin around the ice rink. Skating in the Park begins November 19th and lasts all the way until January 17th. Whether you are having a family fun day or date night, Skating in the Park is the perfect way to enjoy the season.
Let the Holidays Begin
While Thanksgiving has not even passed and these events cater around Christmas, all of them begin in November. These are great events to take your children during the Thanksgiving break. They are sure to have a blast. Let the holidays begin and enjoy all the fun.
